April started her climbing career later in life when she was introduced to outdoor sport climbing for the first time. Her love for climbing grew quickly, and took her on her first trip overseas in only a year. Since then April has climbed all over the world. She spends all her free time climbing, creating, traveling to new places, learning new climbing styles, meeting people, and inspiring others to get outside and climb.

Favorite MAXIM rope: Airliner 9.1
“Climbing saved me. It’s the piece of me that was always missing”
“Dependable, durable, and lightweight, what’s not to love about Maxim?!”
"I love how lightweight and sleek the Airliner 9.1 is. It doesn’t weight my pack down and it doesn’t get all kinked and tangled. All around best rope I’ve had!"
Tell us how and when you got into climbing?
I started climbing when I went to check out the new bouldering gym for something to do, and ended up getting hooked right away and signing up for a membership. It wasn’t for another 5 months that I had the chance to go outdoor sport climbing, and right away I fell in love. Since then I have been avidly climbing outdoors, and all over the world on a consistent basis.
What do you think was the highlight of your climbing career (so far)?
One of the biggest highlights of my career so far was my trip to China in 2019. It was by far the most epic adventure I’ve ever had. Traveling there solo to a place so foreign was wild and unforgettable!
What are you doing when you are not climbing?
For the most part I’m creating if I’m not climbing. I am an artsy person, and I love to create anything, visual content, photography, knitting, cooking, video editing, writing, painting, and pretty much anything else I can get my hands on. I also really enjoy meditation and yoga, keeps me balanced.
What is the soundtrack of your life (favorite song)?
Hmmm, that’s a hard one! I have many favorites, but “Tennessee Whiskey” by Chris Stapleton is my current favorite.
Do you have any peculiar eating habits?
I have been Pescatarian for 12 years now, mostly plant based with some seafood
What stokes you the most?
Being outdoors in beautiful places with amazing people is what stokes me the most.
If you could choose a super power, what would it be?
Oh, hands down I’d be able to fly!
What was your favorite climbing adventure?
Traveling around Asia for a month to Liming and Yangshuo
What would you be doing if you weren’t a pro climber?
I’d probably be working in the Holistic Nutrition/Health area. I’m such a nerd about science and food, health and nutrition, and the body mechanics. Or something Artsy.
